The tools used in the M.O.R.E. project include the SharedRecords web service and TiddlyWiki student notebook which have been successfully used in several educational and healthcare contexts. Also, the M.O.R.E. pilot builds upon mobile phone based teaching techniques first developed by Professor Islam first at BRAC University, which has a long record of improving the quality and accessibility of educational and healthcare materials. Ultimately, the M.O.R.E. project will extend and customize these services and databases of best practices to other underserved regions and populations.

We will be collaborating with BRAC on a pilot project beginning March 2008. Our partnership with BRAC allows us to draw upon their experience in SMS based, interactive delivery of educational content, as well as bracNET which runs village internet kiosks throughout Bangladesh. M.O.R.E. Health will create a series of prototype projects targeted at providing health-care providers in under served regions with quality and up-to-date instruction. Conducted in association with BRAC, these prototypes will use a pool of 4000 village caregivers in Bangladesh as the target population. Initial experiments have already successfully tested this approach in smaller classroom settings at BRAC University. These prototypes - to be run during the grant period - will serve to test this interactive model on a larger scale, and will help us increase its efficiency, cost effectiveness and scalability. The knowledge and experience gained will allow our partners to scale the program in Bangladesh in the future, while UnaMesa will endeavour to provide the infrastructure and technologies developed as a free or low cost solution for global use. Towards this end we will then purse global partnerships with the WHO, UNICEF and other multinational NGOs.
